FITT Academy Scholar Presentations: June 9

We are pleased to invite the campus community to attend presentations from the 2017 Fostering Innovation in Teaching with Technology (FITT) scholars on Friday, June 9, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Technology Building 160.

The FITT Academy is a weeklong, intensive, hands-on faculty development event sponsored by Resources for Information, Technology, and Education (RITE) and is designed to foster a “community of practice” focused on advancing teaching with technology at Buffalo State. Please join us to learn more about the exciting and transformative accomplishments of FITT scholars and their shared experience.

2017 FITT Scholars and Projects

Carol DeNysschen, Chair and Professor, Health, Nutrition, and Dietetics
Project: Mobile Devices for Self-Assessment
Identify an interactive software for self-assessment in a classroom setting where students would apply learned medical nutrition therapy concepts in a setting outside of supervised practice.

Keli Garas-York, Associate Professor, Elementary Education and Reading
Project: Video for Reflection and Feedback
Create a means for literacy specialist candidates to view examples and securely upload videos of them assessing students and meeting with a parent for reflection and feedback through Ensemble.

Kyeonghi Baek, Associate Professor, Political Science
Project: Supplemental Instruction
Create open educational resources (OER) and original remedial and interactive web experiences that will help students succeed in political science statistics course.

Lynn Boorady, Chair and Professor, Fashion and Textile Technology
Project: Open Educational Resources
Identify or create OER materials to update and enhance a beginning fashion class in computer-aided design.

Pamela Schuetze-Pizarro, Professor, Psychology
Project: Videos for Instruction and Observation
Create videos to convey and demonstrate important concepts in the study of child development.

Jill Gradwell, Professor, History and Social Studies Education
Project: Hybrid Education
Develop a foundational understanding of the hybrid teaching method.
