Circle: Dance in the Round - April 25-29

The Buffalo State Theater Department presents Circle: Dance in the Round, a modern dance performance choreographed by Buffalo State dance faculty, April 25–29 in the Savage Building's Flexible Theatre.

Circle: Dance in the Round presents exciting challenges for the choreographers and dancers. Concert dance is traditionally presented on a proscenium stage with an audience in front; therefore, an in-the-round presentation requires the choreography to respond to the space differently. The symbolic meaning of the circle is far-reaching and profound, and each choreographer discovered his or her own way of expressing the concept of the circle: the infinite nature of energy, the inclusivity of the universe, the dance circle as it reflects community, and the emphasis on the featured work within its contoured border. We invite you to personally explore its meaning and come full circle in your own awareness of its symbolic importance.

Preview on Tuesday, April 25, at 8:00 p.m. (open to Buffalo State students; bring student ID). Performances April 26–29 at 8:00 p.m.; matinee on Saturday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the Rockwell Hall Box Office, by phone at 878-3005, or online.
