The Orientation Advisory Committee voted to align our orientation programs model with national standards set by the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) in Higher Education and best practices noted by the Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention in Higher Education.
As such, I have approved their recommendation to change the orientation model from its current configuration to the following:
First-Year (FY) Orientation will be held in five sessions:
FY Session 1: Thursday, July 6, and Friday, July 7
FY Session 2: Thursday, July 13, and Friday, July 14
FY Session 3: Thursday, July 20, and Friday, July 21
FY Session 4: Thursday, July 27, and Friday, July 28
FY Session 5: Wednesday, August 23, and Thursday, August 24
Transfer (TR) Orientation will be held in four sessions:
TR Session 1: Tuesday, July 11
TR Session 2: Tuesday, July 18
TR Session 3: Tuesday, July 25
TR Session 4: Tuesday, August 22
I thank the Orientation Advisory Committee for its work on researching and recommending this new model, and I especially thank the campus community for its work to prepare our new Bengals in their transition to Buffalo State College.
