International PDS Participants in Germany

The Germany for Educators International Professional Development Schools (IPDS) program is under way. Led by John Carlino, German teacher in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District, and Tamara Horstman-Riphahn, executive assistant to the dean of the School of Education, the eight participants will travel throughout Germany from June 29 to July 13.

While in Germany, participants will travel to Berlin and in and around Stuttgart and the Black Forest. Each will live with host families, participate in field experiences in German schools, and engage in a wide variety of cultural and historical activities.

The IPDS Germany program is in its second year of travel to Germany, and recently completed its third year of welcoming new German teachers to Buffalo. The program is founded on a strong relationship and exchange between Buffalo State and the Staatliches Seminar für Didaktik und Lehrerbildung (State Institute for Initial Teacher Training) in Nürtingen.

Please wish this year’s IPDS travelers well and follow their travel blogs.
