Introducing SelfieStyler: An App for Better-Fitting Clothes

Julianne Applegate is the developer of SelfieStyler, an app that helps users estimate their clothing size over a variety of brands using personal photos. SelfieStyler is currently in the beta development stage; the Fashion and Textile Technology Department will host company representatives from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, and Tuesday, May 5; and from 9:00 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 6. The company is offering female participants $10 to have their photo taken and be manually measured, weighed, and body scanned. The process should take about 20 minutes. Please note: body scanning requires participants to wear undergarments that are close in color to their own skin tone.

Please make an appointment in advance at SelfieStyler and encourage your students to learn about this new technology. Please contact Lynn Boorady, chair and associate professor of fashion and textile technology, with questions.
