Governor Kathy Hochul has directed flags to be lowered at half-staff to honor the life and public service of former 1199SEIUUnited Healthcare Workers East President George Gresham who passed away on Friday, May 8, at the age of 71 after a long illness. Flags will be lowered from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, June 9. Governor Hochul also directed state landmarks to be lit purple on June 9 in honor of George’s legacy of social justice and fighting for labor.
