The Buffalo State University community is saddened by the death of Levirn Hill, retired librarian, who died June 26, 2026. Hill was a recipient of the 1997 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Librarianship and was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She was married to the late Edward Hill Sr. for 57 years, and was a devoted and loving mother to Edward Hill Jr., Daryl Hill, and Talbert Hill. She was a beloved grandmother to Vanessa Hill; Nicole Jones and her husband, Ian; Jasmine Dillard and her husband, Robert; Bria Hill; Eddie Hill III; Lauren Hill; and Grant Hill. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Zoe Dillard, Landon Dillard, Jackson Dillard, and Amari Jones. Hill was the dear sister of Willa Mae Spivey and her husband, Malcolm; Marsha Moses and her late husband, Donald; and Irvin Davis. She was preceded in death by her siblings Joseph Davis, Ayvonne Luchey, Zakiyyah Talib, and Melvina Davis. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends, including her treasured friend of more than 50 years, Betsy Strother.
