Legacy in Dance: Today and Tomorrow

Buffalo State College’s Theater Department, dance program, and Casting Hall Productions invite you to join us for Legacy in Dance today, April 21, at 12:30 and 7:00 p.m. and tomorrow, April 22, at 7:00 p.m. in Upton Hall’s Warren Enters Theatre.

Legacy in Dance combines a video montage with live performance to celebrate dance at Buffalo State College. As part of the college’s 150th anniversary celebration, Legacy in Dance takes a look at the collaborations between faculty choreographers and student artists over the past three decades. The video is a collection of works by Daphne Finnegan and Janet Reed, Buffalo State emeriti dance faculty members; Leanne Rinelli, guest contributing artist; Naila Ansari, Joy Guarino, Michael Lambert, and Melissa VanOsch, current dance faculty members; and Carlos Jones, associate dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.

The performers represent students across campus who come to dance via many pathways, including dance minors, arts and letters majors, and those with a passion for movement. Buffalo State dance performances offer the opportunity to dive deeply into why and how dance is created and experienced. This presentation explores a variety of approaches to the creation of dance, several genres, and their significance to the art form.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Rockwell Hall Box Office, by phone at (716) 878-3005, or online.
