Maria C. Garrity, Senior Systems Programmer, Information Technology

Maria C. Garrity '86, '93, senior systems programmer and analyst in Information Technology, successfully completed the CIO Leadership Academy in the Aspiring Leader track, achieving her certification for coursework from the SUNY SAIL Institute in Albany. She was awarded a full scholarship to attend the academy. Ms. Garrity worked diligently on assignments over the semester and completed the applied learning project "How the Information Technology Strategic Plan Works with the Buffalo State Strategic Plan." She presented virtually on May 12, 2020, at the Capstone Graduation ceremony. Additionally, she developed a presentation on leadership from what she learned at the academy called "To Aspire or Not to Aspire: That Is the Leadership Question" and presented it to her peers at the SUNY Technology Conference on June 16, 2020. She has also been nominated for InfoTech WNY's 2020 BETAS (Buffalo Emerging Technology Awards Showcase) “Educator in Technology” award for her excellence in teaching in her technology field as an adjunct faculty member in the CIS Department.
