Student Organizations Discuss Africana Studies: February 12

Student representatives of the African American Students Organization, NAACP-Buffalo State Chapter, Black Active Minds, Pan-African Students Organization, and Caribbean Students Organization will lead an informed discussion about how they would envision Africana studies in a way that would draw in their respective student constituencies on Wednesday, February 12, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 113.

When students do not perform at our standards, is it their fault or ours? What if students told us frankly what they would need a department or a course to look like and do to get them excited to “buy in”? In Africana studies, we think these questions are important for all disciplines and faculty members to consider, and we have created an activity to hash them out. Please come and meet these students, hear their voices, and contribute to the broader issue of effective teaching and learning at Buffalo State College. This event is open to the campus and community. Light refreshments will be served.
