'Tips and Support for Families Returning to School and Work during the COVID-19 Pandemic' - October 19

Please join us for "Tips and Support for Families Returning to School and Work during the COVID-19 Pandemic," presented by Beth Tripi, lecturer in the Social Work Department, on Tuesday, October 19, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Butler Library 318 or via Zoom. 

This workshop is designed for faculty and staff members interested in learning more about anxiety responses to COVID-19, with a special focus on children and families. Coping strategies to manage stress and anxiety related to the return to work and school will be presented.

  • Discussion around the unique qualities of anxiety connected to COVID-19 and common anxious responses in kids and adults
  • Discussion of the collective trauma experienced in our society, what this might look like, and how we have adapted to survive it
  • Discussion of the unique experiences of anxiety depending on subjective experiences and how to support a family member or loved one in this situation
  • Developmentally appropriate approaches and strategies for kids and teens (practical and emotional strategies)
  • Approaches and strategies to manage anxiety in parents or other adults (practical and emotional strategies)
  • Community and Internet resources
