UUP Presentation and Book Signing: November 20

The Buffalo State Chapter of UUP will host a special presentation and book signing with the authors of the new book United University Professions: Pioneering in Higher Education Unionism on Wednesday, November 20, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Burchfield Penney Art Center, with a reception to follow.

Authors Nuala McGann Drescher, SUNY Buffalo State Distinguished Service Professor Emerita and retired UUP president; William E. Scheuerman, SUNY Oswego professor emeritus, retired UUP president, and retired president of the National Labor College; and Ivan D. Steen, SUNY Albany associate professor emeritus, will sign copies of their new book about the history of UUP, which grew from humble beginnings to become the nation’s largest higher education union, representing 35,000 academic and professional staff within the SUNY system. Their book confirms the importance of unionization and speaks to the core of American values and democracy itself. The authors were and remain instrumental in UUP’s growth and development.

RSVP online, and please make sure to reenter your e-mail address a second time when prompted.

This event is sponsored by the Buffalo State Chapter of UUP and by the departments of History and Social Studies Education, Economics and Finance, and Political Science.
