Bicycle Maintenance Workshops: September 22, 23

Is your bicycle in need of mechanical repairs? The Buffalo State College Parking and Transportation Committee will sponsor bicycle maintenance workshops from noon to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday September 22, and 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday September 23, at the bicycle “Fix-It” repair station, located at the west entrance to Butler Library.

The workshops, conducted by GoBike Buffalo, will be held rain or shine and are free and open to students, faculty, and staff. Advance registration is not required, and all levels of riders, from new to more experienced, are welcome and encouraged to bring their bicycles.

The workshops will include demonstrations of the Fix It station and information on how to fix some of the more common mechanical problems that can arise while cycling, as well as the tools to carry with you at all times. A limited number of workshop participants will be able to perform repairs on their bicycles during a hands-on segment with a GoBike specialist.

This environmental benefit project is being undertaken in connection with the settlement of an enforcement action taken by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation related to Article 19 of the Environmental Conservation Law. The enforcement action relates to power plant emissions in 1997 and 1998 that were found to exceed the acceptable threshold.
