Opiate Overdose Prevention Workshop (Narcan Training) - April 20

Buffalo State's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will host an Opiate Overdose workshop with an experienced trainer from Horizon Health Services on Wednesday, April 20, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in Butler Library 210.

Overdoses of prescription opiates and heroin are a serious concern in Western New York and the United States as a whole. Horizon Health Services offers training on use of the drug Narcan (naloxone) to reverse the effects of opiate overdose and give victims a chance at survival.

This workshop covers how to identify if a user is in active overdose, how to administer Narcan, and how to get victims the appropriate help they need. All attendees will leave with a free Narcan kit. An overdose could happen on campus, in your neighborhood, or even in your home. Be prepared.

This training session is open to CERT members, faculty, staff, and students. RSVP for two, and bring someone along with you.
