National Save for Retirement Week: October 18-24

National Save for Retirement Week is a national effort to raise public awareness about the importance of saving for retirement. Held the third week of October, the campaign emphasizes the importance of employees acting now to ensure a secure financial retirement later, as financial planning is an ongoing necessity. We encourage employees to plan for their financial futures through the options and resources available by virtue of their employment.

A wide variety of employee resources is available on SUNY's Financial Education and Planning Tools website to assist you with paying off debt, saving for the future, and managing a budget. This website provides tools and resources from the SUNY-approved investment providers (SUNY ORP and 403b) and other sources to help you with financial education and planning, including planning calculators, credit score ratings, and identity theft and fraud prevention sites.

The following resources provide more detailed information on the various voluntary retirement savings plans that allow you to reduce your tax liability while simultaneously setting aside more money toward a retirement savings plan. Remember, you can start or stop your contributions at any time.
