Posted: Friday, August 22, 20252025-2026 'Conversations' Series Begins October 3 with Talk by Erin Barr
The 2025–2026 “Conversations in and out of the Disciplines” series kicks off Friday, October 3, as Erin Barr, assistant professor of History and Social Studies Education, presents “Immigration, Politics, and the Fair Ladies of the Fenian Sisterhood at 3:00 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 320. The talk will be followed by a brief Q&A and a short wine and cheese reception. Everyone is welcome.
Please also mark your calendars for the second talk of the fall semester, when Shasti E. O’Leary-Soudant, assistant professor of Art & Design, presents “On the Utility of Levity” at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, in Ketchum Hall 320.
Finally, stay tuned for more information about our upcoming talks this spring, which will include presentations by Clemon George, assistant professor of Health, Hospitality, Nutrition, and Dietetics, on December 5, 2025; Keira Hambrick, assistant professor of English and College Writing, on February 27, 2026; and Hermen Diaz, associate professor of Higher Education Administration and Adult Education, on April 3, 2026.
The “Conversations” series was started over fifteen years ago by Ann Colley, SUNY Distinguished Professor Emerita of English, to “celebrate and draw attention to the research being done in various departments at Buffalo State.” Over the last decade, colleagues from Anthropology, Art Conservation, Art History, Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science, and Secondary Education, among others, have shared their work with the Buffalo State and Buffalo communities.
