Summer is the perfect time to learn more about Buffalo State University’s Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum, a campus gem that offers ecological benefits, educational enhancement, and natural beauty all year long. The arboretum includes many varying species of trees and numerous landscape beds featuring vibrant flowering shrubs, perennials, and annuals. The campus displays greenery year-round while marking the seasons with fragrant blossoms, shade-giving trees, and luminous autumn colors.

For the past two years, Buffalo State has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree Campus Higher Education program. This designation celebrates Buffalo State’s commitment to maintaining its trees and general sustainability practices.

Explore the database of individual tree species and varieties by common name or scientific name, take a look at the virtual map of the campus trees, or scan the QR code and take a self-guided tour of the arboretum on your lunch hour some sunny day.
