ICYMI: GRIT Scholarship recipient Darnelle Hilliard's story
After becoming a father his senior year of high school, Darnelle Hilliard shifted his focus from pursuing a career in education to supporting his family by becoming a school bus driver. Now in his 40s, thanks to support from the GRIT Scholarship, Hilliard is set to graduate from Buffalo State this month with a degree in elementary education.

BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo State's Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, NY/Springville Griffith), Karlie Shaffer (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East), and Nicole Delli Colli (Rye, NY/Rye) have been recognized for their outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments, earning a selection to the 2025 Women's Volleyball Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.
