Curtis Haynes Jr., associate professor of economics and finance, was invited to speak as part of a panel discussing cooperative economic projects in the Buffalo area on September 24. The panel was part of the Cooperative Academy, a 13 week-course facilitated by Cooperation Buffalo, a community-led resource center whose mission is to train and educate in cooperative enterprise development.
Dr. Haynes spoke to a group of more than 20 entrepreneurs about his long history in the local cooperative community. He started with his work as part of the Resurgent City Center, a HUD COPC–funded center at Buffalo State College in the mid to late 1990s on through his current work with the Mondragon Village Association, a local real estate holding and management cooperative, of which he is a member. He explained how his work is a continuation of his applied research, first starting with his arriving at Buffalo State in 1993 as part of the college’s (now university’s) urban mission.
