Changes to Pre-Health Advisement at Buffalo State
Posted:
Pre-health advisement is now a campus-wide effort. All academic, professional, and special program advisors can help advise pre-health students.
Here are some resources:
- Check out the new Pre-Health Professions Advising website—the Academic Roadmap is especially important when advising students interested in health-related fields.
- Pre-health students can be found in Navigate360 using the Advanced Search (on the left side of menu), Student Information, Category: "PreHealth Students (PREH)."
- If students have specific questions about health-related careers, they can email prehealth@buffalostate.edu.
- Shannon Casterline in Biology (SAMC 337) is the pre-health coordinator, overseeing student events and communication, the website, and a new pre-health student group.
- Cate Vivacqua is the pre-health liaison in CAPE (Cleveland Hall 306). She can provide career guidance, professional support such as preparing a resume or a personal statement, and will help with internships. If you are aware of internship or shadowing opportunities, please contact her.
- Amy McMillan in Biology (SAMC 331) is the pre-health committee chair and will be communicating with professional and academic advisors across campus. If you would like more information about pre-health advising, please call ext. 3874 or email prehealth@buffalostate.edu.
Thank you for making it possible for our students to get the advisement they need to enter a health-related career or further schooling after graduation.
