The Buffalo State University community is saddened by the death of Kathryn L. “Kathy” Hanaka, former assistant manager of Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore (retired), who died November 12, 2025. Ms. Hanaka worked at Buffalo State for 40 years. She is survived by her husband David M. Hanaka; siblings Russell (Daphne Finnegan) Dye Jr. and Richard Dye; goddaughter Courtney Hanaka; and cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial took place at Blessed Sacrament Church in Buffalo on Saturday, November 15. More information is available online.
