Register Now: 2026 Live Comprehensive Ethics Training Course

Posted:

As per the Ethics Commission Reform Act of 2022, all New York State employees are required to complete ethics training every year. To fulfill this requirement for 2026, all Buffalo State employees (including graduate assistants but excluding student assistants and work-study students) will complete the live, two-hour Comprehensive Ethics Training Course (CETC). The CETC is a live, instructor-led training that covers the Public Officers Law and other related ethics laws and regulations. The CETC is the only course that satisfies the live ethics training requirement mandated in Executive Law §94.

There are two options to take the training: 1. daytime sessions are available virtually through the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government, or 2. evening sessions are available virtually through Human Resource Management (HRM) at Buffalo State.

  1. To register for a daytime session through COELIG, please visit the CETC Class Registration Page.
  • Agency: SUNY Buffalo State University
  • Employee ID: your N number from the top left-hand corner of your pay statement (in SUNY HR Self Service click “View Paycheck”)

Upcoming Open Sessions:

  • Thursday, March 12 from 1 pm to 3 pm

You will be required to respond to multiple poll questions throughout the training in order to receive credit. HRM will be notified of all course completions; therefore, there is no need to forward the training completion email to HRM that you will receive from COELIG within 5-10 business days from the date of training.

    2. To register for an evening session through Buffalo State, please visit the Workshop Registration System (LibCal).

Employees must complete the CETC by November 30, 2026.

Supervisors are asked to ensure all their employees are allotted time to complete this mandatory training.

Please Note: If you received an email from HRM regarding your non-compliance for prior years, please be sure to follow those instructions.
