WIT Presidential Wonders

First, as Women In Technology (WIT) program leaders, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our tenth university president, Dr. Bonita Durand, and to our incoming eleventh president, Dr. Jennifer Burris. We look forward to your continued support and partnership in advancing our WIT initiatives.

WIT AI Educators

Next, we would like to express our sincere appreciation, especially to our three outstanding speakers for the phenomenal job they did explaining AI for teaching and learning, AI infrastructure, AI-ready learning, institutional frameworks, and collaborative coding, along with its overall purpose, on Monday, April 27. The speakers complemented each other’s work and collaborated seamlessly. Thank you to our participants. We had a fun-filled room in Bacon Hall 117, along with additional participants joining virtually.

  • Dr. Joaquin Carbonara, Professor of Mathematics at Buffalo State and Leader of the Data Science Analytics Program
  • Mr. Ken Fujiuchi, Emerging Technology Librarian at Buffalo State’s E. H. Butler Library
  • Dr. Angela Thering, Instructional Consultant for AI and Technology-Enabled Pedagogy at the University at Buffalo and Lecturer at Buffalo State

WIT Committees Being Formed
We also extend our gratitude to our WIT Champions, who will be leading our committees:

If you would like to get involved in any of the WIT committees listed above, please reach out directly to the WIT Champions and they would be happy to welcome your support.

WIT Virtual Meeting Coming Soon
We are planning a WIT virtual MS Teams meeting during the summer months (June, July, or August) to engage with the broader WIT campus community, check-in, and gather feedback. Please continue checking the Daily or our WIT listserv for more information.

WIT listserv
We currently have over 60 participants on the WIT listserv. If you have not yet requested to be added, please e-mail Sue McCartney or Maria Garrity.

WIT Technology Sharing is Caring
If you would like to share any AI, technology, or emerging innovation conferences you are attending or know about over the summer, we would be happy to include it in our real-time digital WIT World newsletter so others can participate as well.

Thank you to Donald Williams from the SBDC office for his creative outreach flyer, and to Sue McCartney and Maria Garrity for facilitating this educational WIT campus event.

With Appreciation from the WIT Leadership Team
Maria Garrity, Sue McCartney, Lisa Morrison-Fronckowiak, and Amitra Wall
