Attention, Lab Coordinators: Software Upgrade Request Form for Fall 2020 - Deadline March 20

In preparation for the academic year 2020–2021, please use the Software Request form to submit requests for new or upgraded lab software. All software requests for academic year 2020–2021 must be received by close of business Friday, March 20.

IT Strategic Planning and Operations works to research, document, acquire, and make available software for installation and access. IT is guided by campus policy and works in collaboration with a governance approval structure to be sure all requests are responsibly considered. The impact of decreased enrollment on Technology Fee revenues may affect the ability of IT to fulfill all requests.

Software licenses are treated as contracts by the New York State Office of General Services and the SUNY Office of General Counsel. Consequently, IT cannot guarantee the installation of or access to new software titles in time for the start of the academic year.

Completing a request form is necessary if

  • lab software must be upgraded to a new version, or
  • you are requesting a new software title (not yet installed) that is essential to your student outcomes.

To request software for your lab, please visit the IT Software Request web page and open a ticket for each title needed. Please complete a separate form for each request. For example, if the lab in Bacon Hall 123 requires an upgrade to SPSS and a new installation of iMovie, two separate requests should be submitted.

We also strongly encourage you to test the basic functionality of all equipment and software in your labs and classrooms before the start of the semester and to report any issues you encounter to the IT Help Desk.

IT Services will follow up with you if additional information is necessary. Thank you for your cooperation.
