Please join the Biology Department and the Great Lakes Center for the seminar "Evolution of a Fish-Adaptive Radiation in the Great Lakes," presented by Trevor Krabbenhoft, assistant professor of biological sciences at the University at Buffalo, on Monday, September 19, at 3:00 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center 214. Dr. Krabbenhoft has various research interests including fish evolution and ecology, genome evolution, and climate change.

Abstract
The Great Lakes are home to a diverse fish fauna, including an adaptive radiation in the genus Coregonus ("ciscoes," family Salmonidae). Dr. Krabbenhoft's talk will review his efforts to understand the evolutionary origins and environmental context of this radiation based on genetic, morphological, geological, and ecological data. He will highlight efforts to restore cisco populations in a changing environment for conservation and fisheries management objectives. His objective of the seminar is to present a sufficient breadth of research to be of interest to a wide audience.
