Bring Your Child to Work Day and Beyond is an annual national event that is held on the fourth Thursday in April; this year's event is April 24, 2025. Children will experience many of the majors and programs that Buffalo State University's campus has to offer by engaging in hands-on and interactive activities hosted by our faculty and staff.
In addition to many volunteers across campus, this event is made possible by generous funding through the Horace Mann Faculty Research Grant in Exceptional Education. We are grateful to all who have contributed for their support, including UUP, and Student Success and Retention. We welcome additional donations, so please reach out!
We will provide activities for three groups: Kindergarten, 1st and 2 graders, Grades 3, 4, and 5, and Grades 6, 7, and 8. Caregivers of children in the Kindergarten-5th grade groups will be required to remain with their child for the day, 8:30-1:30. Caregivers of children in Grades 6, 7, and 8 are welcome to stay (we appreciate the extra help) or may leave their child but must pick them up by 1:30. Caregivers are welcome to join us for lunch, beginning at 1:30.
The finalized schedule of campus activities is forthcoming. We are planning to offer interactive and engaging hands-on STEM, education, and other activities. Our day will begin and end in the Moore Complex Lounge.
We have been asked to comply with the following guidelines for this year's event:
Staff who are registered for this event and who will be staying with their children for the program events, need to review this request with their supervisors. Supervisors will need to approve their absence from the workplace and arrange for work to be made-up, otherwise employees need to utilize break time or charge appropriate accruals.
Staff who are volunteering to assist with program events need to review their volunteer request with their supervisor. Supervisors must ensure that volunteering will not disrupt operational needs. This volunteering could align with community service in the performance program, however, the request does need to be reviewed with the supervisor based on operational needs.
Space will be limited; once we reach capacity, further registrations will be placed on a waitlist and provided priority registration for next year's event. Registration will close on April 1, 2025 or when we have reached capacity. Please let us know if you need to cancel so that we may add children from our waitlist to the event.
