Life on Mars? The 2025 Dr. Jack Mack Lecture in Astronomy and Planetary Science
Life on Mars? In the late 1800s, observations by Percival Lowell and others led to the widely held belief that an intelligent civilization of Martians created massive canals to transport water on Mars.
For the 2025 Dr. Jack Mack Lecture in Astronomy and Planetary Science, award-winning journalist and author, David Baron, will be presenting Martians and the Human Mind. In his presentation, David will be discussing his new book, which deals with the history of thinking about life on Mars, mostly in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Mr. Baron's talk will be followed by a book signing and dessert reception. His book, The Martians: The True Story of an Alien Craze that Captured Turn-of-the-Century America, will be available for sale at the talk, and it is available now in Buffalo State's Barnes and Noble bookstore.
