Please join us for "Understanding Microaggressions: Building Awareness and Inclusive Practice," facilitated by Michael Heflin, director for diversity and belonging, on Friday, January 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Caudell Hall 209.
This one-hour interactive workshop introduces faculty and staff to the concept of microaggressions and examines how subtle, often unintentional behaviors and language can negatively impact individuals and campus climate.
Participants will:
- explore common forms of microaggressions in higher education
- reflect on their own roles and responsibilities, and
- engage with practical strategies for recognizing, responding to, and interrupting microaggressions in professional and academic settings.
This Winterim session emphasizes inclusive communication, accountability, and fostering a campus environment that supports belonging, respect, and equity for all community members.
