Women in Technology (WIT) Launch Event a Success, Raising Over $1,000 for Student Support

Posted:

We could not be prouder of those who participated in our inaugural Women in Technology (WIT) event, held at the conclusion of Women’s History Month on March 31.

Additionally, we are proud to share that, through the WIT program, we raised over $1,000 in donations for Stand for a Student and Bengala + RUNWAY contributions.

With approximately 50 attendees at our WIT launch, our highly credentialed speakers—Kristy Mediak, Liz Grady, and Erin Habes—helped make this incredible turnout possible. You were all incredible, the interaction and Q&A sessions were engaging, inspiring, and energizing.

  • Kristy—you made procurement fun and efficient again.
  • Liz—it was exciting to collaborate and share ideas together.
  • Erin—you and your students are amazing, especially Grace Maldonado; her showcased dress and its environmentally conscious design were incredibly inspiring.

A special thank you to our WIT leadership—Maria Garrity, Sue McCartney, Lisa Morrison-Fronckowiak, and Amitra Wall—for their efforts with the outreach in promoting and supporting this event. And thank you to everyone who attended—without your participation, WIT would not be as impactful as it is.

Get Involved:
The WIT Committee will meet on Wednesday, April 22, at 3:00 p.m. in Butler Library 210.

Our next WIT Technology Event will feature Joaquin Carbonara, Ken Fujiuchi, and Angela Thering presenting "AI for Teaching and Learning" on Monday, April 27, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Bacon Hall 117. Sue McCartney will facilitate the session, and Ken Fujiuchi and Andrea Nikischer will serve as co-chairs of the WIT Technology Committee.

The excitement around WIT is just the beginning and we look forward to continuing to build a strong, connected community across campus.

What is WIT?
It is all of you, empowering women, celebrating gender diversity, partnering across campus, sharing knowledge, and building something greater than any one department could ever imagine!
