Campus Moving Students to O365

As the campus strives to improve communication between our faculty, staff, and students, we will transition current students away from Google email (Gmail) and move them to the Microsoft Office 365 (O365) email platform. Benefits to our campus colleagues and students include improved security, communication, and collaboration. Detailed benefits also include the following:

Availability and Use
Students who have their own computers can work from home and not be required to come to a campus lab to use Microsoft Office applications. Students can also work on a file together for a class project and share that file directly with the professor for review and comment.

Calendar, Appointments, Bookings
Departments can create event calendars and share them with students and others on campus. The “Bookings” application within O365 allows departments, advisers, and others to create a calendar with open dates and times so that students and others can book appointments online. This can be used for adviser appointments, tours, auditions, interviews, etc.

Campus Support
The campus will support one system, MS O365, rather than two systems that meet similar goals.

Security
Students and faculty members working on the same system means students don’t have to create an un-secure MS Office account to work with faculty in a virtual class.

We would like to get your feedback on this move. Please answer this three-question survey.
