Photo Op to Support International Women’s Day
Institutional Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and Academic Affairs invite the campus community to join us in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD)—a global day recognizing the achievements of women in social, economic, cultural, and political life.
At Buffalo State, we honor the accomplishments, leadership, and lasting impact of women in our campus community and beyond. "International Women’s Day is an opportunity for the university to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women and to reaffirm our commitment to equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all. When we uplift and support women, we strengthen our entire community," said Interim President Bonita R. Durand.
Faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate in a group photo honoring women’s contributions and continuing the conversation around equity and inclusion in education, technology and beyond. Participants are encouraged to wear purple, the official color of International Women’s Day, symbolizing justice and dignity.
Where: E. H. Butler Library Lobby
When: Thursday, February 26
Time: 12:15 p.m.
The International Women’s Day 2026 theme Give to Gain highlights the power of generosity and collaboration—because when we give, we gain. This year’s campaign encourages support, allyship, and collective action toward gender equality.
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to:
- Celebrate women’s achievements
- Educate and raise awareness about gender equality
- Call for positive change that advances women
From the International Women’s Day website, “Imagine a gender-equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge gender equality.”
As a campus community member, what will you Give to Gain? For more information on IWD, visit the International Women’s Day website and follow #IWD2026 and #GiveToGain.
Please join us on Thursday, February 26, at 12:15 p.m. in the Butler Library Lobby for a campus-wide group photo celebrating this historic day. All are welcome, and we hope to see you there.
