Minor in Ethics and Justice (formerly Minor in Ethics)

Course Revision:

EXE 510 Cognition, Language, and Literacy Development in Young Children with Disabilities (formerly Cognition and Emergent Literacy in Young Children with Disabilities). Prerequisite: EXE 500 or EXE 100 or equivalent. Examines cognitive, language, and literacy development in young children with disabilities. Explores developmental theories, sociocultural influences, and early intervention strategies. Emphasizes play, school readiness, and technology use. Analyzes milestones and techniques to support language and literacy acquisition. Offered every spring.

EXE 612 Behavior Support Strategies for Young Children with Disabilities (formerly Managing the Behavior of Young Children with Disabilities). Prerequisite: EXE 502 or EXE 362 or equivalent. Examines research-based frameworks for supporting social-emotional development and managing behavior in young children with disabilities. Explores evidence-based strategies, functional behavioral assessment, intervention planning, and family collaboration. Emphasizes culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate practices. Offered every fall.

HPR 488 Coaching and Physical Education Internship (formerly Internship). Prerequisite: HPR 126; HPR 309; Instructor Permission. Through mentored field experience, practice in the professional skills of an entry-level sports coach. Practice utilizing knowledge and skills to effectively coach individuals, groups, or teams, focusing in practical application and real-world scenarios. Offered every semester.

HTR 200 Foodborne Illness Prevention and Food Safety (formerly Sanitation and Safety in Food Service). A panoramic overview of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration FDA Food Code which applies to biological, chemical, physical and other hazards that lead to foodborne illness. Students will sit for the national ServSafe® Manager certification exam supported through the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation. Offered every fall.

HTR 380 Inclusive Hospitality Trainings and Certifications (formerly Advanced Training in Hospitality). Prerequisite: HTR 110. Best practices  and active participation in training and certifications imperative  for the hospitality and tourism industry to such as fire safety, NARCAN, QPR, stress management, and working with consumers with disabilities.  Active workforce skills training focused on inclusive and culturally diverse hospitality-tourism enterprises. This is a designated service-learning course. Offered every semester.

HTR 455 Advanced Talent Management in Hospitality and Tourism (formerly Advanced Human Resource Management in Hospitality). Prerequisite: HTR 110. Application of advanced talent management and human resource concepts, evidence-based practices, leadership and problem-solving strategies cultivated by hospitality-tourism managers for an inclusive and competitive work environment. This is a designated writing intensive critical thinking course. Offered every semester.

HTR 470 Legal Tactics for Hospitality and Tourism (formerly Legal Issues in Hospitality). Prerequisite: HTR 110. An overview and exploratory review of the impact of federal, state and municipal regulations for the hospitality and tourism industry focused on public and workforce safety, property liabilities and brand protection for all hospitality and tourism venues such as dining, bars, hotels, Airbnb, clubs, corporate, travel and entertainment venues. Offered every semester.

HTR 485 Seminar and Alumni Networking in Hospitality (formerly Seminar in Hospitality). Prerequisite: HTR 110. An overview of the exciting career paths, trends and obstacles within the hospitality and tourism industry, and comprehensive career planning strategies using best practices.  Students will research and present on favored hospitality and tourism enterprises and participate in electronic networking and distinguished Hospitality Alumni networking presentations. Offered every semester.

PAD 101 Introduction to Public Administration and Nonprofit ManagementPrerequisite: None. Overview of public and nonprofit agencies, socioeconomic and cultural impact of nonprofits, public-nonprofit partnerships, employment systems, governance in public and nonprofit sectors, ethical challenges. Offered every semester.
