Course Revisions:

EXE 650 Assessment of Young Children with Disabilities. Prerequisite: EXE 501 or equivalent. Explores principles and practices of assessment for young children with disabilities, emphasizing culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate approaches.  Examines screening, norm-referenced, and multi-dimensional assessments to inform eligibility, programming, and intervention. Considers family collaboration, legal frameworks, and best practices in assessment administration. Offered every spring.

EXE 652 Intervention in Early Childhood Special Education. Pre-requisite: Provisional/ initial certification in early childhood special education or instructor permission. Explores evidence-based intervention strategies to support young children with disabilities across developmental domains. Emphasizes individualized instructional planning, early literacy and numeracy interventions, assistive technology, and structuring effective intervention environments. Focuses on promoting access, participation, and engagement. Offered every fall.
