Donate Eyeglasses, Hearing Aids, and Cell Phones

Did you know that in addition to celebrating Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday in November, November 13 is World Kindness Day and November 29 is National Day of Giving (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving)? Here are a few ways you can participate this year and all year round.

Last year, Weigel Health Promotion started collecting used eyeglasses, hearing aids, and cell phones in the vestibule of the Weigel Wellness Center (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday). The donation box is located on the first floor, to the left by the doors. If your donation is larger than the box provided, please feel free to leave your donation with the staff at the front desk of the Health Center.

Eyeglasses will be donated to the Lions Club International Foundation’s recycling center to benefit LCI’s vision programs. Hearing aids will be donated to the Hearing Aid Project. Cell phones will be donated in collaboration with the Dean of Students Office to benefit Verizon’s efforts to aid victims of domestic violence.

This initiative is available year-round. At the end of each semester, items will be tallied and delivered to their respective agencies.

We are happy to report that so far we have collected and donated almost 200 items to help serve our community and others. Thank you for doing your part, Buffalo State!
