Drop Hammer Reading Series featuring Anne Panning: February 29

Special guest Anne Panning will read from her work at the next Emanuel Fried Drop Hammer Reading Series on Thursday, February 29, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 218. Dr. Panning has published a memoir, Dragonfly Notes: On Distance and Loss (2018), and a novel, Butter, as well as two short story collections: The Price of Eggs and Super America, which won the Flannery O’Connor Award and was featured as a New York Times Editor’s Choice. She has published short prose and poetry in dozens of literary magazines such as Prairie Schooner, The Kenyon Review, River Styx, Quarterly West, and Brevity (5X). She is currently working on a memoir, Bootleg Barber: A Daughter’s Memoir, about her late father—a barber and addict—as well as a poetry collection, Spit & Glitter. Originally from rural Minnesota, she teaches creative writing at SUNY Brockport.

This event, sponsored by the Buffalo State English Department, is free and open to the public. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
