Posted: Friday, August 1, 2025ESRI Education Programs to Retire ArcGIS Desktop
ESRI Education Programs is retiring ArcGIS Desktop. Anyone using this application on a campus or personal device will no longer be able to access the software after the current license term expires on July 31, 2025. ArcGIS users will need to use ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro.
Existing installations of ArcGIS Desktop will be removed from campus computers starting today (August 1, 2025), including these computer labs:
- Butler Library Study Quad and Quiet Quad
- Geosciences Teaching Classroom (Buckham Hall A108)
- Geosciences Laptop Lab (Science and Math Complex 115)
- Shared Chemistry & ESSE Lab (Science and Math Complex 116)
ArcGIS Desktop users will find information to help migrate curricula activities over to ArcGIS Online/ArcGIS Pro by visiting the Modern GIS Landing Page.
