Every Child Matters (Orange Shirt Day of Remembrance): September 30

Please join us for a mindfulness walk to commemorate the experiences of Indigenous children in residential boarding schools in Canada and the United States on Monday, September 30, between noon and 1:00 p.m. in Horace Mann Quad.

Known as Every Child Matters or the Orange Shirt Day of Remembrance, commemorative ceremonies or walks have occurred for the last decade in Canada and the United States. The orange shirt relates to the intake story of survivor Phyllis (Jack) Webstad.

Information about the residential boarding schools and Indigenous survivors' experiences will be available.

This event is sponsored by the Indigenous Initiatives Caucus, the Center for Social Justice, and the Indigenous studies minor hosted by the Anthropology Department.

Please email Lisa Marie Anselmi, associate professor and chair of the Anthropology Department, with questions.
