This event will be a city-wide effort to introduce and educate all who are interested in Ranked-Choice Voting and its potential impact on voters.
DID YOU KNOW: NYC will be using Ranked Choice Voting for the Mayoral Primary Elections this June?
The Bengals Vote Coalition (BVC) will host the West Side screening of the documentary film Majority Rules, which is about Alaska's use of Ranked Choice Voting. The BVC is comprised of members of the community, non-profit partners, students, faculty, and staff. Our mission is to educate, inspire, and mobilize all citizens to use the power of their voice and their vote. Ranked Choice Voting is used in NYC, Maine, Wyoming, and Alaska. To learn more, call our office at 716-878-3919. We are proudly partnering with the WNY Ranked Choice Voting Coalition- Partnership for the Public Good, Voice Buffalo!, UB Votes, Unite NY, League of Women Voters Buffalo-Niagara, Buffalo Center for Health Equity, and many more. If you feel inclined to speak up or get involved in any way, we would love your feedback. Email cce@buffalostate.edu.
Check-in will start at 5:30 at the doors of the Burchfield Penney. Don't worry about parking because it's the M&T Second Friday's event, so ticketing is suspended during this time. There will be ushers to lead you to the theatre.
The film will begin around 5:45 PM - 6:00 PM (run time - 1h32m), followed by a brief Q & A and panel discussion after the screening from SUNY Buffalo States Dr. Peter Yacobucci, UB Votes RJ Hac, the League Of Women Voters Timothy Perino, Partnership for the Public Goods Paula Cahill and moderated by SUNY Buffalo State Senior and Co-Chair of the Bengals Vote Coalition, Rachelle Clark. Please RSVP on the CCE Bengal Connect
