Greek Life Spring Recruitment

Greek Life at Buffalo State is dedicated to enhancing the development of students through membership in our Greek organizations. Each fraternity and sorority offers students an opportunity to be part of a close-knit community that promotes leadership, service, and academic excellence. Our staff supports initiatives dedicated to scholarship, service, community advocacy, philanthropy, safety, and wellness.

Buffalo State recognizes that membership and new member recruitment is an essential component of the fraternity and sorority experience. For chapters to survive, they must continually recruit new members. It is expected that each fraternity and sorority will enhance the experience of each new or prospective member by providing membership education programming that meets university requirements.

All recognized fraternities and sororities are required to follow Buffalo State's Greek Life recognition policy, recruitment and new member protocols, and recruitment calendar.

All students interested in joining a Greek-letter organization must meet certain criteria before the start of the new member education and intake process:

  • Students must be at least second-semester first-year students with 12 completed college credit hours.
  • Students must be registered as full-time students at Buffalo State University.
  • Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA and be in good academic standing.
  • Students must be deemed eligible for membership by the recognized Greek-letter organization.

Greek Interest Meeting Requirement
All students interested in joining a fraternity or sorority must attend one of the Greek Interest Meetings sponsored by Student Leadership and Engagement at the beginning of each semester and before the start of intake and new member education activities.

Please contact Student Leadership and Engagement, (716) 878-4631, with questions about Greek Life and spring recruitment.
