From the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs

Important End-of-Semester Information for Residential Students

Posted:

As we approach the end of the fall semester, the Division of Student Affairs would like to remind the university community of some important dates and policies that pertain to on-campus housing:

December 8-11, 2025 (Critique and Evaluation Period/Finals Week)

During CEP, 24-hour quiet hours will be in effect in all residence halls to support students during this critical academic period. No guests will be permitted in the residence halls during this time.

December 12, 2025, at Noon: Residence Halls Close for Winter Break

All residence halls will close at noon on December 12, 2025. Students who are not returning for the spring semester must vacate their rooms by this deadline.

Late Stay and Winter Break Housing Options

Students needing to remain on campus past noon on December 12 have the following options:

  • Late Stay (not requiring Winter Break housing): Students may request a late stay by emailing reslife@buffalostate.edu. Late stays are approved on a case-by-case basis and are only considered for travel- or academic-related reasons.
  • Winter Break Housing: Students wishing to stay on campus over the winter break must complete a Winter Break request form through their My Housing portal. Additional fees may apply.
