Position Summary
The responsibilities of the assistant director and coordinator for academic intervention include formulating, executing, and monitoring initiatives to support students encountering academic challenges. The coordinator works with faculty, administrators, and students to enhance the continuous advancement of student success and retention. Additionally, the incumbent assists the director of academic standards in addressing academic appeals, financial aid exemptions, and student grievances while developing, preparing, and managing academic interventions for undeclared and non-matriculated students.

Essential Responsibilities
Advising
The responsibilities encompass comprehensive guidance on academic requirements, degree policies, course selection, schedule planning, and repeat policy. This role is crucial in advising probationary students on aligning their majors, careers, and transferrable skills, accompanied by intensive advising to bolster student success. The advisor’s employment of student development strategies to monitor the progress of designated students and proactive outreach to non-probationary students who may benefit from academic support is a vital part of our mission. Furthermore, the delivery of recommendations to the director of academic standards every semester concerning the academic standing of undeclared students is a significant contribution. The personalized advisement for non-matriculated students who have completed 45 credits, proffering enrollment recommendations and aiding with university hold removal, is a testament to the advisor’s value in our community.

Intervention Development
Establishing collaborative partnerships with campus stakeholders, including ACE, ROAR, and EOP, is imperative to devise tailored interventions for students on academic probation. Regular assessments of academic intervention programs are crucial to ensure compliance with established CAS standards. Furthermore, the development, execution, and evaluation of workshops and programming to facilitate learning and provide academic support will be prioritized. Additionally, the commitment includes teaching one BSC/UNC course per semester and conducting rigorous data analysis to furnish reports on academic performance and program efficacy. Finally, a key focus will be developing and monitoring early intervention strategies and mid-semester progress for all undeclared students.
