The Buffalo State University community is saddened by the death of Linda D. Hausknecht, retired administrative assistant in the Chemistry Department, who died August 9, 2025. Ms. Hausknecht joined the campus in 2001 and retired in 2016. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Walter A. Hausknecht; children, Eric (Melissa), Kathryn (Jeremy), and Karyn (Joshua); grandchildren, Ella, Jack, Ally, Ben, and Jerald; great-grandchild, Noah; and siblings, Gary (Anne Marie) and Donald (Terri). Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, August 22, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Acacia Park Cemetery. More information is available online.
