May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. Please join us for a fun gathering in introducing the Asian and Pacific Islander Faculty and Staff Association (APIFSA) on campus and a presentation by Ken Fujiuchi, head of information commons, and Julie Setele, senior assistant librarian, on building a more representative collection for Asian/Pacific American (APA) Heritage Month on Friday, May 3, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Butler Library 101A (first-floor lobby west).

APA Heritage Month honors the contributions and influence of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans to history and culture. We acknowledge the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories of the AAPI community and recognize their role in shaping the nation’s story. The month also serves as a reminder of the ongoing need to address issues of inequality and promote inclusion and representation of Asian and Pacific Islanders in all spheres of American life. The library’s mission is to preserve this history and raise awareness of these contributions. Future initiatives to improve representation at the library will also be discussed.

This event is free and open to everyone. Students are invited to come and meet their APA faculty and staff members. Refreshments provided. Sponsored by Academic Affairs and E. H. Butler Library.
