Emanuel Fried Drop Hammer Student Reading Series: October 31

The Emanuel Fried Drop Hammer Student Reading Series will hold its next event on Thursday, October 31, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 302. Special guests T. L. Sherwood and Karen Weyant will read from their work.

T. L. Sherwood is the winner of the Gover Prize and the London Independent Story Prize. She was a finalist for Best Small Fictions in 2016 and has been nominated for the Best of the Net, Best Microfictions, and the Pushcart Prize. She has served as a fiction editor and on a board of education. She lives beside Eighteen Mile Creek, where she writes, gardens, and takes her wonder rescue dog for far too few walks.

Karen J. Weyant’s poems and essays have been published in Chautauqua, Crab Creek Review, Crab Orchard Review, Fourth River, Lake Effect, Rattle, River Styx, Slipstream, Spillway, and Whiskey Island. She is the author of two poetry chapbooks, and her first full-length collection, Avoiding the Rapture, was published last fall by Riot in Your Throat Press. A recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Scholarship and Creative Activities, Ms. Weyant is an associate professor of English at Jamestown Community College in Jamestown, New York.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided. This event is free and open to the public.

The Drop Hammer Reading Series is a tribute to the legacy of our late colleague Emanuel “Manny” Fried.
