Hermen Díaz, assistant professor of higher education administration and adult education, attended the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHE) 2025 Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado, on March 7–8. He presented a scholarly presentation on the "Motivations of Latino Men in Higher Education Administration Masters Programs."
The scholarly presentation sought to explore how Latino men understand their educational pathways and, more specifically, what motivates them to continue on their unique educational pathways. The findings and implications of the study recognized that, for collaborators/participants, their identity informed intrinsic motivations were to disrupt and dismantle barriers for Latinx/a/o/e students. Dismantling such barriers was rooted in the collaborators’ intrinsic goals of advocating and mentoring Latinx/a/o/e students and, ultimately, reconciling our past, challenging the present, and shaping equitable futures.
