Christina Mulé, M.A., CCC-SLP, clinical supervisor of speech-language pathology, and Anita Senthinathan, Ph.D., assistant professor of speech-language pathology, were invited as guest speakers at the Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) Rehabilitation Symposium on March 8 for a special presentation on "Swallowing and Voice Disorders Following Spinal Cord Injuries." They shared their expertise and engaged rehabilitation professionals from across Western New York.
Mulé and Senthinathan brought their clinical and research expertise and experience to this highly relevant topic, offering attendees an in-depth look at the complex relationship between spinal cord injuries and the resulting impact on swallowing and voice function. Their presentation explored critical considerations for evaluation and treatment, highlighted current evidence-based practices, and emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in managing this patient population. Their contributions to clinical education helped to advance knowledge and practice in the rehabilitation community.
