Kim Chinquee, associate professor of English, participated in the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) Annual Conference and Bookfair in Los Angeles, California, March 26–29, where she read work from three of her forthcoming books: Contact With the Wild (prose poems: MadHat Press, May 2025); I Thought of England (novella, Boabab Press, September 2025); and Octopus Arms (flash fictions, MadHat Press, October 2025). She also represented three of the journals she edits: New World Writing Quarterly (senior editor); Midwest Review (nonfiction editor); and Buffalo State's Elm Leaves Journal (chief editor).
A nonprofit organization since 1967, AWP supports more than 500,000 writers and 500 writing programs, and this conference had over 14,000 writers in attendance.
According to its mission, "AWP amplifies the voices of writers and the academic programs and organizations that serve them while championing diversity and excellence in creative writing."
