Tina Colaizzo-Anas, associate professor of health, nutrition, and dietetics, was the featured speaker at the meeting of the Council of Canonical Orthodox Churches of the Niagara Frontier on April 6 in Niagara Falls, New York. Her topic was "For I was Hungry (Matthew 25:35): a Spiritual Journey in Establishing the St. Basil Food Pantry." The St. Basil Food Pantry was established five years ago in response to the food insecurity exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, Colaizzo-Anas published a chapter, "Nutrient intake, digestion, absorption, and excretion," in the newly released American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) Adult Nutrition Support Core Curriculum, 4th edition. The ASPEN Core Curriculum is the volume used to guide exam preparation for the multidisciplinary Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential. Colaizzo-Anas wrote chapters for all four editions, the first being published in 2007.
