Aspen-AASCU Transfer Student Success and Equity Intensive

Buffalo State College has long prided itself on strong partnerships with local community colleges, including Erie Community College (ECC), that support our important transfer program. I’m pleased to announce that we have been selected to participate in a new initiative to further strengthen our partnership with ECC.

Buffalo State and ECC were selected to participate in the inaugural Aspen-AASCU Transfer Student Success and Equity Intensive. This is a one-year initiative made possible by Ascendium’s Education Philanthropy and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), in partnership with the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program.

The 2021–2022 initiative consists of monthly sessions designed to support partnerships between community colleges and AASCU members that will ultimately provide more equitable transfer student success. Buffalo State and ECC make up one team among 30 teams (PDF, 92 KB) selected for two inaugural cohorts from colleges and universities throughout the country.

The monthly workshop series, in which key stakeholders from each campus will participate, will provide practical support aimed at accelerating transfer reform over the course of the year. It begins today, November 18, with an online kickoff and will culminate with a capstone event on October 27, 2022.

The program is free for all participants, thanks to the generous support of Ascendium’s Education Philanthropy.
