Appointment: Dean of the School of the Professions

I am pleased to announce that Carol DeNysschen has been selected as the new dean of the School of the Professions (SOP), following a national search. Dr. DeNysschen has been a faculty member at Buffalo State College since 2008 and attained the rank of full professor in 2017. She currently serves as chair of the Health, Nutrition, and Dietetics Department.

Dr. DeNysschen earned a Ph.D. in exercise science from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. She earned a master of business administration (M.B.A.) from SUNY Oswego and a master of public health (M.P.H.) from the University of Minnesota. Dr. DeNysschen is an active researcher and part-time assistant professor of oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. She has been recognized for her research and service at the national, state, and local levels. She has a solid portfolio of leadership on campus and in the community and recently completed the Emerging Leaders Program through the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).

Dr. DeNysschen will start her new position on June 1, 2022.

At this time, I want to thank the search committee for the dean of the SOP and especially its co-chairs, Sue McCartney, director of the Small Business Development Center, and Cathy Mazzotta, chair of the Social Work Department, for their dedication to the search process and leadership in recruiting our outstanding new dean.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. DeNysschen in her new role.
